HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Harrisonburg Vice Mayor Dany Fleming has announced his endorsement for Tom Perriello for Congress.
According to a release, Community activist Jennifer Lewis, former Harrisonburg Mayor Kai Degner, Harrisonburg Vice Mayor Dany Fleming, and former House of Delegates candidate Andrew Payton have joined in the new round of endorsements.
“People want candidates with a vision; who are good listeners, proven problem-solvers and innovators; who have courage and a strong moral compass,” said Harrisonburg Vice Mayor Dany Fleming. “That’s not a common combination. However, that’s what we get in Tom Perriello. And that’s why I’m excited to endorse him for Congress”
Former Harrisonburg Mayor Kai Degner also ran as the Democratic candidate for Virginia’s Sixth Congressional District in a previous election.
“I ran for this seat because I believed Harrisonburg and the Shenandoah Valley deserved better representation in Washington,” said former Mayor Kai Degner. “Serious times call for serious leaders, and Tom Perriello is exactly the candidate I was hoping we could find. He listens, he fights, and he has the record and the relationships to win. The valley needs him in Congress, and I am proud to stand with him.”
If the April 21 referendum passes, Perriello will run in a newly drawn Sixth District connecting Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, Blacksburg, and parts of the Shenandoah Valley and Blue Ridge.
