GROTTOES, Va – One person has been arrested in connection with an alleged abduction attempt in Grottoes earlier this week.

The incident happened around 8:30 pm Tuesday outside Herby’s Food Store on Third Street. The alleged victim said that as she was pumping gas, a man approached her with a knife, threatened her life and told her to get in the trunk.

The woman then said that she ran inside the store, locked the doors and called 9-1-1.

Grottoes Police Chief Jason Sullivan confirmed that the individual was arrested at the scene but could not confirm the person’s identity due to it being a continuing investigation.

He said there is no ongoing threat to the community.
