STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — The City of Staunton celebrated the opening of their new Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court Thursday evening.

A brief program with remarks from city leadership, including the mayor, and members of the Judiciary took place at a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Mayor Michelle Edwards said seeing the new building take shape over the past year and a half was energizing.

Attendees were allowed to step inside portions of the new building for a first look inside the facility.

The new Court facility includes two courtrooms, secure areas for the Sheriff’s Office, Clerk’s Office, and Court Service Unit, as well as satellite office spaces for the Commonwealth’s Attorney, Public Attorney, Public Defender, and mediator/victim advocate services.
