HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) – Rockingham County Fire and Rescue rushed to the scene of a structure fire earlier today in Harrisonburg.

At around 9:30 Monday morning, December 15th, Fire Chief Jeremy Holloway reported that units were dispatched to the blaze at Lakeside Book Company on Kratzer Road.

“Upon our arrival, we had smoke showing from the roof,” Holloway said. “Crews entered the building and found an air-handler system that had caught on fire inside the building and had extended onto the roof.”

The Chief added that when the ladder truck arrived on the scene, personnel were able to extinguish the flames from a vantage point above the faulty air-handling unit.

The blaze was brought under control by 10:45am, and no one was injured in the incident.

By 11 o’clock, employees were allowed to return to certain areas of the facility.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
