VERONA, VA (Rocktown Now) — A Verona man was arrested Sunday morning after a foot chase ensued.
The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office says at approximately 9:47am, deputies were in the area of Midvale Drive attempting to locate stolen property when they spotted the suspect, Joseph Steven Brown. The 48-year-old then fled on foot.
Officials say a deputy pursued Brown on foot but temporarily lost sight of him. Additional units responded to the area and established a perimeter. Deputies later located Brown on an adjacent property, where he was found hiding underneath a shed.
The stolen property, a set of rims for a 1947 Ford, were recovered and returned to the victim.
Brown was wanted on the following charges:
• § 19.2-306 – Felony probation violation (Staunton Circuit Court)
• § 19.2-130.1 – Felony probation violation (Augusta Circuit Court)
• § 18.2-95 – Grand larceny of a firearm (Felony)
• § 18.2-308.2 – Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (Felony)
• §§ 18.2-95 / 46.2-390 – Grand larceny of vehicle parts valued at $1,000 or more (Felony)
Joseph Steven Brown was taken into custody and is currently being held without bond at the Middle River Regional Jail.
