STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — Staunton City Schools is inviting families, community members, and music lovers of all ages to an afternoon of live performances from their middle and high school bands, beginning at 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 7, at Staunton High School in the John Lewis Auditorium. 

The award-winning band programs of Shelburne Middle School and Staunton High School will present three concerts showcasing the musical talent of students across the division. The Shelburne band program is led by Charlie Nesmith and Hannah Greer-Young. The Staunton High band program is led by Jon Wilson.

The event will begin with Shelburne Middle School’s 6th-grade band taking the stage for their first-ever public performance. At 4 p.m., the 7th- and 8th-grade bands from Shelburne will follow with their performances. After a brief intermission, the evening will conclude with the Staunton High School Concert and Symphonic Bands at 6:30 p.m.

“These performances will showcase the pieces that our band students have been working on so far this school year,” said Jon Wilson, band director for Staunton High School. “We’re really proud of our students and are thrilled to give the community a taste of the talent in our growing band programs this holiday season.”

Admission to all concerts is free and open to the public.
