STUARTS DRAFT, Va – The fifth time was the charm in the bond hearing for the 18-year-old Charlottesville man accused of shooting another teen last month in the Stuarts Draft area.
After four previous attempts had been continued, Amavion Andre Barbour appeared Thursday in General District Court where a felony charge of reckless handling of a firearm causing serious injury was certified to a grand jury.
A misdemeanor charge of altering the serial number of a firearm was dropped, according to online records.
Authorities say Barbour was in the backseat of a vehicle when the gun he was holding went off, shooting a fellow 18-year-old who was sitting in the front seat on May 14th. Barbour remains in custody.
