RICHMOND, VA (Rocktown Now) — Governor Glenn Youngkin has ordered that U.S. flags and Virginia flags be flown at half-staff on all state and local buildings and grounds in the Commonwealth today in memory for the nearly three thousand lives lost in the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001.

In the order, Youngkin stated that it is also in honor of the heroes who gave their lives in rescue efforts and in defense of the American ideals of freedom, justice, and individual liberty.

Youngkin has also ordered flags to continue to be flown at half-staff until Sunday, in accordance with President Donald Trump’s Presidential Proclamation, in memory of Charlie Kirk, founder and president of Turning Point USA, who was tragically shot and killed while delivering a speech Wednesday at Utah Valley University.

Flags should remain at half-staff until sunset on Sunday September 14th.
