RICHMOND, Va. — Governor Glenn Youngkin is announcing nearly two-and-a-half million dollars in state funding to help law enforcement, schools and churches prepare for an active shooter situation.
In a release yesterday, Youngkin’s office said the Criminal Justice Services Board approved the money for the ALERTT program.
That’s a course that offers in-person or virtual training to help vulnerable locations, and those charged with protecting them, “neutralize and survive” an attack.
The governor said the goal is to “build a culture of preparedness” in the commonwealth.
