IRVING, Texas – James Madison lacrosse senior Tai Jankowski received her third Attack Player of the Week honor from the American Athletic Conference this season, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Jankowski earned the weekly attack award after scoring a career-high five goals and adding an assist to lead JMU’s offense in a 14-7 win over Rutgers on Sunday. Jankowski converted on 5-of-7 shots (.714) on the day and was 2-for-3 from the free position. She scored her third consecutive hat trick and ninth overall in the 2023 season.
For the season, Jankowski ranks fourth in The American in goals per game (2.81) and points per game (4.06). She has shot 48.9% overall and put 73.9% of her attempts on goal. The Bridgewater, N.J. native is also fourth in the country in free position percentage (.739) and is tied for the sixth-most free-position goals in the country with 17.
Defender Mairead Durkin and goalkeeper Kat Buchanan earned their way onto the weekly Honor Roll. Durkin caused three turnovers and added two ground balls against the Scarlet Knights, reaching the program record with 128 career caused turnovers. Buchanan made nine saves on a .563 save percentage, tied for the third-most saves of her career and her 11th game this season with at least a .500 save percentage.
JMU (15-1, 5-0) will play its regular-season finale on Saturday, April 29 at East Carolina. First draw is set for noon.
