HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The racial discrimination lawsuit filed against James Madison University by a former employee has been dismissed.
According to court documents, both Darla Edwards’ lawsuit claiming she was passed up for a promotion due to her race and counterclaims made by JMU, Virginia Education Strategies, and Jennifer Stevens were dismissed and discontinued in their entirety Tuesday in U.S District Court in Harrisonburg.
Last month, Tim Schulte withdrew as counsel for 51-year-old Edwards, stating that an attorney-client relationship had soured to the point that he could no longer represent her in the case.
The judge then gave Edwards until last Friday to find a new attorney or represent herself in the case that was scheduled to go to trial October 21st.
