STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — UPDATE (7/23/25): Throughout July, artists were invited to submit original table designs. The Staunton Augusta Art Center is now in the voting phase, where the public can help shape the next step of the project.

Residents can vote for their five favorite designs using the form at the Staunton Augusta Art Center website through July 31.

In August, selected designs will be painted during community workshops led by SAAC teaching artists and installed at the Wharf.

(7/14/25) The Staunton Augusta Art Center is seeking original designs to transform picnic tables into vibrant works of public art as part of a new community project.

The center is activating a currently vacant section of the Wharf with custom-painted tables to create a colorful, welcoming space where people can gather while the City explores redevelopment plans.

Artists are invited to submit a design to be painted during community workshops later this summer. Five designs will be selected through an online community vote, and each chosen artist will receive a $100 honorarium.

Designs can be submitted at the Staunton Augusta Art Center website.
