HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The American Red Cross is hosting a blood drive Friday at the Valley Mall in Harrisonburg.

Jason Kreck, Account Manager with the American Red Cross Blood Division, says that blood donations are always needed, especially in the summertime.

“Roughly every 2 to 3 seconds across the country, someone needs a unit of blood. The only way we can build up those stockpiles and help out our hospitals and our emergency rooms in particular, is for blood donors to come in and give blood,” Kreck says.

The blood drive takes place Friday from 11 am to 5 pm and sign up times are available at AmericanRedCross.org or call 800-Red-Cross.
