NEW ORLEANS – Both Bridgewater College track and field teams appeared in the first edition of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national rankings for the spring season that were released on Tuesday evening.
The men’s squad came in at No. 21 and the women made their appearance at the No. 25 slot in the rankings.
The Eagles have competed in two meets so far, the most recent being the Doc Jopson Invitational where Peter Fulton won the discus throw tossing for a mark of 49.97m (163′ 11″) which is the second-best mark in Division III. Additionally, Fulton set a new personal best and moved to seventh all-time for the Eagles in the shot put with a heave of 14.48m (47′ 6.25″) while also recording the top hammer throw mark in Division III with a distance of 56.04m (183′ 10″).
On the women’s side Adalia Coleman won the 200-meter run with a time of 24.28 seconds. That time is not only the fastest in the ODAC, but it is the top time in all of Division III so far in the outdoor season. Kacee Hooker also grabbed a first-place finish on the weekend in the 100m run posting a time of 12.30 seconds.
Bridgewater is joined by Lynchburg as the only other ODAC school to make an appearance on both sides of the rankings.
BC will be back in action this Friday at the VertKlasse Meeting, hosted by High Point.
