BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College women’s tennis team picked up a thrilling 5-4 victory over Randolph on Wednesday evening at the Mapp-Whitelow Tennis Courts.

BC opened the match by taking two of the three doubles matches as Emma Nessleodt and Ryan Roeber picked up a 8-6 win at the top spot and Emily Wylie and Emily Daigneault snagged an 8-5 victory at the No. 3 slot.

Rober and Wylie each picked up victories at the No.4 and No. 5 spots respectively to put Bridgewater in front 4-1 in the match score early into single play. Two wins for the WildCats at the top two spots put the pressure on Malena Hoover on court three to try and close the match out for BC.

The senior cruised through the opening set taking it 6-2 and found herself in a tight battle in the second. A late service break gave the second set to Randolph 4-6, forcing a third and deciding set. Hoover picked up an early break to go ahead 2-0, but three straight games from the WildCats made things interesting. Hoover reeled off four straight games of her own to take the decider 6-3 and clinch the team win for Bridgewater.

After a day off tomorrow, the Eagles are back in action on Friday as they make the trip to Virginia Beach to battle Virginia Wesleyan. Action is set to start at 3 p.m. for both the men’s and women’s teams as they take on the Marlins.
