IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has named two James Madison lacrosse student-athletes to its weekly honors as redshirt senior Kat Buchanan was named Goalkeeper of the Week and senior Tai Jankowski earned Attack Player of the Week on Monday.

Each player grabbed their second conference weekly honor this season as JMU picked up multiple honors for the fifth consecutive week.

Buchanan proved key in stopping opposing attacks, posting a career-high 12 saves on a .600 percentage against No. 12 Virginia. She followed that up with nine more stops on a .529 clip against Temple on Saturday, totaling 21 saves, a .568 percentage and an 8.0 GAA on the week.

She has eight games with a .500 save percentage or better this season. Currently, Buchanan holds the lowest GAA in the league at 8.07.

Jankowski scored the most goals for JMU this week and did so in timely fashion, with her second goal against Virginia tying the game with 5:57 to play. She followed up her two goals against Virginia with four more plus an assist against Temple, reaching a hat trick in the first half as the Dukes built up a six-goal lead by halftime.

Jankowski shot .500 for the week, making one of her two free-position shots. She ranks sixth in the country in free-position percentage, shooting .786 (11-for-14). She is also tied for 39th in goals (30) and tied for 36th in points (43).

Making the league’s Honor Roll this week was redshirt senior Mairead Durkin. She caused four turnovers and grabbed five ground balls across the week’s two games as JMU held its eighth and ninth opponents below 10 goals this season.

The Dukes were ranked fifth in the ILWomen/IWLCA Division I Poll for the second straight week, the top national ranking in The American.

JMU (10-1, 2-0) will be home for a conference matchup against Old Dominion on Saturday, April 1 at noon.
