HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — A fan favorite deli in Downtown Harrisonburg is closing their doors.
Lola’s Delicatessen announced on their social media that they plan on closing in June, the date still to be determined. The owners, Lauren Penrod and Logan Strawderman, said it will be based on when they sell out of ingredients and can no longer make sandwiches.
The deli has been open for over 7 years, but the owners have decided to not renew their lease for several reasons. The main reason being prices for ingredients and supplies “have and will continue to rise”.
The owners say the ending is bittersweet. “The greatest thing about running the deli has been our amazing crew (past and present) and the time and devotion they’ve given to this place over the years. But the greatest thing about HAVING the deli is all of you: the customers, from our friends and family, to the regulars who have become friendly faces, to the out-of-state folks who stop by once or twice a year when they’re on the road—your cheerleading of our little deli has been a wonderful gift, and we thank you for that,” said the owners on the deli’s Facebook page.
