ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — Rockingham County officials are asking parts of the county to conserve water to help the City of Harrisonburg.

Harrisonburg asked the city to conserve water when possible while workers clean out impacted filters at the Water Treatment Plant. Due to recent heavy rains, excessive debris has entered the system.

The water conservation efforts have extended to Smith Creek and Lilly in Rockingham County, since those areas receive their water supply from the City of Harrisonburg.

Ways to conserve water during this time include limiting outdoor water use (e.g., lawn watering and car washing), taking shorter showers, run dishwashers and laundry only when full, and fixing any leaks promptly.
