HARRISONBURG, Va. (JMU Athletics) – James Madison had its home finale of the 2025 season spoiled by Old Dominion, falling, 4-2, on Sunday afternoon in Sun Belt Conference baseball at Veterans Memorial Park.
The Dukes dropped to 15-37 (8-19 SBC) while the Monarchs improved to 21-26 (15-12 SBC).
Senior Ryan Dooley and sophomore Ike Schmidly both had a pair of hits, going 2-for-4 and 2-for-3 respectively. Sophomore Jackson Logar started for the Dukes, throwing his fifth career game of six or more strikeouts as he tossed seven in 4.1 innings. He allowed three runs on four hits.
How It Happened
First Inning
Old Dominion loaded the bases in the first, using a sacrifice fly to push the first run of the game across.
Third Inning
The Dukes evened the score with their own sacrifice fly with the bases loaded, coming off the bat of junior Wyatt Peifer.
Fifth Inning
A pair of walks put two runners on for ODU, with a double into the right field corner scoring both for a 3-1 visiting lead.
Sixth Inning
The Monarchs pushed their lead to three with a sacrifice fly to make the score 4-1.
In response, the Dukes hit their own sacrifice fly to get back within two. Freshman Jack Anderson drove in classmate Drew Beard, Jr. to make it 4-2 after Beard walked to precede a Peifer double.

The Dukes travel to San Marcos to play Texas State in the final series of the regular season on May 15-17.
