AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — A former Augusta County resident charged in the death of an infant last year now has a trial date.

According to online records, Damian David Nesselrodt will face a jury trial scheduled to last 3 days in Augusta County Circuit Court,  beginning June 2nd, on three counts, including First-Degree Murder.

On April 8th, 2024, the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office and Weyers Cave Fire and Rescue responded to a home in the Weyers Cave area for an unresponsive — and not breathing — infant.

Unfortunately, life saving measures on the child were unsuccessful.

Authorities reported at the time that after a lengthy investigation, the child’s death was ruled “Homicide” by the Medical Examiner’s Office, and Nesselrodt was taken into custody.
