STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — A power outage struck the City of Staunton this morning.

At around 10:15am, the Staunton Police Department posted a community alert that several downtown traffic lights were knocked out of commission by an unspecified issue with an electrical transformer.

Authorities took the opportunity to remind drivers approaching an intersection without functioning traffic lights to come to a complete stop and proceed only when the way is clear.

Despite the power outage, City Hall officials announced that primary voting would still be available.

By 11:15am the transformer issue had been resolved, and service was restored to the affected area.
