ARLINGTON, Va. – The Bridgewater College softball team split its doubleheader against Marymount on Wednesday.
Final Score: (Game 1) Marymount 9, Bridgewater 8; (Game 2) Bridgewater 10, Marymount 3

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One
• The Saints got on the board first as Kaylynn Johnson singled to left field bringing in Shanyn Burch. Johnson crossed the plate in the first as well on a Sheila Kiernan single to centerfield. Marymount closed out the inning with two runs on three hits.
• The Eagles responded in the top of the second with McKenna Mueller crossing the plate as a result of an error from the shortstop. Hannah Mahan recorded a single to bring in Molly Ecroyd on an unearned run, while Torrie Shifflett drove in the final run of the inning for the Eagles recording an RBI to center giving the Eagles a 3-2 lead.
• The Saints knotted things up in the bottom of the third on a Caitlyn Oakland single to center field. In the bottom of the fourth the Saints exploded as Johnson uncorked a three-run homer to center.
• The Eagles immediately returned the favor as Shifflett unleashed a three-run homer of her own to left-center field in the bottom of the fifth inning. In the top of the sixth, the Eagles took the lead as Payton Gregory crossed the plate on a throwing error by the catcher.
• Marymount immediately answered in the bottom of the sixth tying things up on a Kaylee Atkins single to left field to drive in a run. The Saints took the lead in the following at-bat as Johnson was brought in on a Kiernan groundout.
GAME STATS
• Shifflett notched four RBI in the contest, including a three-run home run, going 2-for-3 at the plate.
• Brooklynn Fridley went 3-for-5 at the dish recording one RBI.
• Mahan recorded an RBI for the Eagles with her lone hit on the day.
• The Eagles pitching staff recorded eight strikeouts and allowed 13 hits in the circle.
• Atkins grabbed her first win in the circle on the season for the Saints allowing no hits and recording four strikeouts.
Game Two
• The Eagles struck first in the scoring column getting on the board with a quick set of RBIs from Mueller in the first inning. Marymount responded in the bottom of the second with a set of their own RBIs notched by Johnson.
• From here, it was all Bridgewater starting with Fridley bringing in Jordan Wise for a run giving the Eagles the lead. Mahan scored on a sacrifice fly from Sarah Wimer and Jazmyne Smith followed that up with a two-run homer into left field giving the Eagles a 6-2 lead to end the second.
• Mueller continued her dominant second game blasting a two-run home run into left field to give the Eagles an 8-2 lead in the fourth.
• Sarah Wimer brought in the final two runs for the Eagles with a single to center field. The Saints responded with a run in the bottom of the seventh before having their night ended on a fielder’s choice to seal the game for the Eagles.
GAME STATS
• Elena Williams notched her first win in the circle recording three strikeouts and allowing seven hits across 7.0 innings.
• Mueller recorded a home run, four RBI and a stolen base in the game going 3-for-4 at the plate.
• Smith recorded a home run of her own as well as a pair of RBI.
• Wimer grabbed three RBI for the Eagles going 2-for-3 in game two.

Bridgewater is back at home to take on Sweet Briar in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 18 with game one starting at 1 pm.
