BRIDGEWATER, Va. — The Bridgewater College women’s lacrosse team dropped a 17-13 contest to undefeated Juniata at the Jopson Athletic Complex on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Lauren Roberts put the Eagles in front with the game’s first goal at 13:27, but Peyton Goodrich added to her team-leading goal tally to tie the game with 10 minutes to go in the opening quarter. Shannon Para was fed by Kelliann Drummond to give Juniata a 2-1 lead, but Roberts tied the game again with 6:44 left in the period. Grace Gibbs got her first goal of the game to give JC a 3-2 lead after the first 15 minutes.
• The second quarter belonged to the visitors as Juniata outscored the Eagles 7-1, including a natural hat trick by Gibbs and a pair from Kyndall Yeager and Goodrich before Kaity Petersheim netted a man-up goal with a minute left in the half. Juniata led 10-3 at the break.
• Madeline Magill scored the first goal of the second half off an assist from Ashley Venit to cut into the lead less than a minute into the stanza. Yeager scored again to maintain a seven-goal advantage before Petersheim scored her second of the game to make the score 11-5 in favor of the visitors. Gibbs and Goodrich went back-to-back to assume a 13-5 lead but Caris Cianelli netted one to get the Eagles within seven goals.After a JC goal, Petersheim completed her hat trick and Grace Pietro scored to bring the score to 15-8 after three quarters.
• Following a JC goal to start the final quarter, Jenna Entsminger scored a man-up goal with 10:23 left in regulation. Roberts scored another goal less than 20 seconds later with Entsminger getting a second goal with an assist from Aunnie Hacker. Roberts earned another free position attempt and tallied a goal to get Bridgewater back in it at 16-12 with seven minutes remaining. Juniata scored once before and Petersheim registered her fourth of the game to get to the 17-13 final score.
GAME STATS
• Petersheim and Roberts each had four goals, while Roberts pitched in a pair of assists.
• Roberts set a new single-game team record with an incredible 16 draw controls. She breaks her own record of 13 draws that she set a season ago. Roberts is now within striking distance of the career draw control mark for the program.
• Entsminger also scored twice while Pietro had a goal and an assist to go with four draw controls.
• Roberts also grabbed two ground balls and caused two turnovers. Magill and Rachael Robinson each snagged a pair of ground balls.
• Gibbs finished with a game-high seven goals while Yeager had five points on four goals and an assist.
• Robinson made 10 saves in all 60 minutes, while Chloe Gerhard stopped seven shots in the win.
• As a team, Juniata held a 38-30 edge in shots and a 19-13 advantage in ground balls.
