HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) – The Harrisonburg Police Department is calling drivers to pay attention to what’s happening on and around roads as the city heads into paving season.
Sergeant Wayne Westfall says drivers should be patient when approaching work zones and pay close attention to signs and crews that are concentrating on the task at hand.
“If you see a worker in a construction zone with one of these signs, they are in charge of traffic,” said Sergeant Westfall. “If it says stop, you stop. If it says slow, that means you can go but go slowly. Please respect these workers.”
In the video posted to social media, Westfall also reminds drivers to put down their phones, put down their drinks, stop the conversations, and simply focus on driving safely through work zones.
