HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) – A former James Madison University student has received his sentence for his part in a fatal crash near West Virginia.
Campbell Fortune was sentenced yesterday to 90 days in jail and 7 years supervised probation after pleading “no contest” to speeding and negligent homicide.
The 21-year-old was at the wheel on February 2nd, 2023, when the vehicle ran off Route 259 and hit a tree near the West Virginia line, killing Joshua Mardis, John “Luke” Fergusson and Nicholas Troutman.
The families of three deceased college students filed lawsuits against the James Madison University chapter of Pi Beta Chi fraternity and its president, John Marshall, for the wrongful deaths of their loved ones earlier this year.
