STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — Staunton officials say they are close to the finish line for completing the stream channel update at Gypsy Hill Park.

Work on the stream channel is now complete, and they only have a few tasks left. Sidewalks need to be poured, plants need to be planted, and educational signs need to be installed.

Contractors hit an unexpected underground powerline, which caused delays, but has been repaired. Officials say to avoid future issues, a third-party crew will be on-site April 21 to sonar map utilities before pouring sidewalks and installing railings.

City officials say they hope to be wrapped up by the end of April, but some final plants will have to wait until May.
