ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — Rockingham County Fire and Rescue has released data regarding CPR response to cardiac arrests in the area.

According to authorities, there were 68 “sudden cardiac arrest incidents” in the county in the first quarter of 2025, with 11 of those incidents occurring in public places.

The RCFR encourages the use of the 9-1-1-connected “Pulse Point Respond” mobile app that alerts users who are trained in CPR and are willing to assist in an emergency when someone nearby is in cardiac distress and may need help.

The RCFR reports that just over 15-hundred local PulsePoint users have CPR alerts enabled.

So far this year, 11 CPR alerts have gone out over the app.
