SPARKS, Md. – USA Lacrosse has named James Madison lacrosse attacker Isabella Peterson the Division I Player of the Week, as announced by USA Lacrosse Magazine on Tuesday.

Peterson, named the Attack Player of the Week by the American Athletic Conference on Monday, picks up her first national weekly award of the season.

The attacker piled up goals against High Point on Saturday, tying a career high and program record with eight total on 13 shots (.615). Her 13 shots and 11 shots on goal both marked career-bests for Peterson.

In the draw circle, the redshirt junior set a season high with seven, gaining the most of any player in Saturday’s contest.

For the season, she leads the Dukes with 17 goals (4.25/game), 20 points (5.0/game), 33 shots (8.25/game) and 27 shots on goal (6.75/game). Peterson is also tied for the team lead in draw controls (18) and free-position goals (3).

Last season, Peterson won national Offensive Player of the Week last season from the IWLCA on March 29 and received the Division I Player of the Week honor from USA Lacrosse on April 5. Last year’s USA Lacrosse Player of the Week came after an eight-goal performance against Hofstra.

Peterson and No. 12 JMU are back in action Wednesday, facing off against No. 5 Maryland at 5 p.m. at Sentara Park. In the two sides’ last matchup, Peterson connected for five goals, helping the Dukes to a 13-8 road upset over the Terps.
