HARRISONBURG, Va. (JMU Athletics) – Multi-home run games from Makayla McClain and Macy Hemby helped App State push past James Madison by a score of 8-0 in five innings in Sun Belt Conference play on Friday evening at Veterans Memorial Park.
McClain and Hamby at the top of the App State (11-20, 2-5 SBC) batting order, combined to go 4-for-7, scoring four runs, and driving in five on four home runs.
JMU (11-18, 0-7 SBC) put across just two singles against Sophie Moshos who went the distance in the contest while fanning three.
Kylee Gleason extended her hitting streak to three games, her fourth stretch this season of at least a hit in three straight games.
How It Happened
First Inning
• Makayla McClain and Macy Hemby had back-to-back solo shots to lead off the game for App State and quickly jumped out to a 2-0 lead
Third Inning
• Hamby hit her second home run of the afternoon to extend the Mountaineers’ lead to 3-0
Fourth Inning
• McClain contributed her second home run of the day, this time a two-run shot to right-center
Fifth Inning
• Madison McIntyre was responsible for App State’s fifth home run of the day, a three-run blast to right center to make it 8-0 Mountaineers
Game Notes
• James Madison suffered its first loss against App State since becoming Sun Belt Conference mates. Before today’s contest, the Dukes were 6-0 against the Mountaineers since 2023
• Fleet tied her season high with six strikeouts in her four innings of work
• The six strikeouts are tied for the third-most in a game for Fleet in her career
