AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) – During their latest meeting, the Augusta County School Board voted 5 to 1 to approve middle school football for sixth and seventh graders across the county’s five schools starting next school year.

Eighth graders are eligible to play following an evaluation of body size and skill level.

The county’s high school athletic departments will oversee the program that will include Monday through Wednesday practice times with Thursday evening games kicking off at 5:30 p.m.

Participating families will pay a 25-dollar activities fee in addition to game admission costs when the eight-game season begins this fall.
