MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (JMU Athletics) – James Madison baseball and West Virginia played a tightly contested game, but the Dukes dropped the contest, 3-1, on Wednesday night at Kendrick Family Ballpark.
The Dukes dropped to 7-14, while the Mountaineers extended its win streak to five games and moved to 18-1.
Sophomore Kyle Langley led JMU at the plate, going 1-for-4 with a homer. Senior Jayden Barroqueiro started for the Dukes and went a season-high two innings, only allowing two hits in his first start of the season.
How It Happened
First Inning
Langley took a 2-2 pitch over the right field wall, putting JMU up 1-0 three batters into the game.
Third Inning
Two runners were placed in scoring position from a double that followed an infield single, before a sacrifice fly tied the game for WVU at 1-1.
Fourth Inning
WVU scored two runs without using a hit to take a 3-1 lead, utilizing a straight steal of home before a wild pitch added an insurance run.
Game Notes

• Kyle Langley’s home run is JMU’s third on the road this season.
• Jayden Barroqueiro made his 18th career start and first start since 2023 at Muhlenberg.
