AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) – A former Augusta Health employee who admitted to stealing credit cards from patients who were in the emergency room will spend three months in jail.

Jill Claffey of Lexington pleaded guilty to six felony charges as part of a plea deal she reached with prosecutors.

Among the charges include three counts of obtaining a credit card and three counts of credit card forgery. In exchange, four other charges were dropped.

A judge then sentenced Claffey to five years in jail with four years and nine months suspended.

In an affidavit filed by the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office, Claffey was accused on several separate incidents of taking cash and credit card information from patients without their consent between September 2022 and October of last year.
