BRIDGEWATER, VA (Rocktown Now) — Augusta County Fire and Rescue crews were dispatched to a reported structure fire at 7:37 this morning in Bridgewater.
However, Deputy Chief of Operations Bryan Mace reports that when firefighters arrived on the scene in the 6300 block of Spring Hill Road 11 minutes later, they found a different story altogether.
“One of the lieutenants from Mount Solon Fire got there first, and it ended up not being a structure burning. It was a pile of brush burning behind it.”
Mace added that the situation turned out to be “one of those hundred miles an hour to zero calls.”
Personnel contained and extinguished the fire before flames could reach structures on the property, and the scene was completely clear by 8:06 am.
