WAYNESBORO, VA (Rocktown Now) – The Wayne Theatre presents the Paul Taylor Dance Company performing live on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 7:00 PM.
Founded by the legendary dancemaker Paul Taylor (1930-2018), the company has been a cornerstone of American modern dance for over six decades. Since its debut in 1954, the Paul Taylor Dance Company has toured to more than 600 cities in 66 countries, gracing stages from rural towns to the world’s most prestigious opera houses and performing arts centers.
Paul Taylor’s repertoire, spanning 147 dances over 64 years, explores the depth of the human condition with a unique blend of joy, humor, tragedy, and transcendence. His works, deeply rooted in collaborations with modern dance pioneers such as Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham, continue to captivate audiences with their extraordinary blend of classical music and contemporary movement.
According to a news release, audiences will experience Taylor’s signature works, including Aureole, which marries classical music with modern abstraction, and other masterpieces like Esplanade, Sunset, and Promethean Fire. The evening promises to be an awe-inspiring celebration of modern dance’s most beloved traditions and innovative artistry.
“This is an extraordinary opportunity to witness one of the most influential dance companies of all time,” said Tracy Straight, Executive Director, Wayne Theatre. “The Paul Taylor Dance Company brings unmatched artistry, and we’re honored to host them on the Wayne Stage.”
