WOODSTOCK, Va – It is three years in jail for a Winchester man convicted of beating up a woman in Shenandoah County two years ago.

According to online records, Christopher Lawson was sentenced to 16 years in jail during a hearing Wednesday afternoon in the circuit court. However, a judge suspended 13 of those years.

The sentence came after a jury convicted the 30-year-old Lawson in October on three charges, including abduction by force and assault.

Police said Lawson hit a woman in the mouth during an altercation at a Woodstock home on February 2nd, 2021. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of a broken jaw.

Lawson was also sentenced to three years of probation upon his release and forced to pay nearly three thousand dollars in restitution.
