FOREST, Va. (BC Athletics) – Jaden Alsberry of the Bridgewater College women’s basketball team has been named the ODAC Defensive Player of the Week.
The Strasburg, Va. native opened the week by scoring her 1,000th career point to go along with seven rebounds, two blocks and three steals in BC’s 73-46 victory over Roanoke on Wednesday. Alsberry followed that up as her and the Eagles worked their way to a 65-59 victory over Guilford on Saturday behind her nine rebounds, three blocks and two steals.
Alsberry recently moved into third on the program’s all-time rebounding list as her career total has moved to 786 boards over her five seasons in the crimson and gold. The graduate student also sits fourth on the program’s list in career blocks with 165 over her 97 career games.
The Bridgewater defense currently ranks second in Division III in scoring (45.2 ppg) and field goal defense (29.5%) while also ranking 25th in the country in rebounding margin (+9.5). BC is receiving votes in the D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll and currently sits with a 14-1 overall record and an 8-0 mark in ODAC play.
