A West Virginia bill that would allow students to carry concealed weapons on college campuses is set for a vote today in the state Senate – amid pushback from the Mountain State’s collegiate leaders.

The presidents of Shepherd University, Concord University and West Virginia State have reportedly sent a joint letter to Charleston, stating they have “serious reservations” over Senate Bill 10, otherwise known as the Campus Self Defense Act.

The heads of West Virginia and Marshall universities have also voiced opposition to the bill, telling the state Senate Judiciary Committee that they believe the decision should be handled at the local level instead of a statewide ruling.
