STANLEY, VA (Rocktown Now) — UPDATE:  The Page County Sheriff’s Office says there is no longer a heavy police presence in this area.

Sheriff Chad Cubagge released the following statement in response:
On Sunday, December 29, at approximately 12:19pm, information was received that Todd Shifflet was located in a camper on a property in the 700 block of Honeyville Road, Stanley. Law enforcement established a perimeter while probable cause was developed to obtain a search warrant. A search warrant was obtained and subsequently executed in a search for Shifflett.
A female occupant was located in the camper that stated that Shifflett had been on the property earlier, but had since left. The residence was secured and Shifflett was not located.
I want to assure the citizens of Page County that we are doing everything within our legal authority to track and find Shifflett. I also want to send a very clear message, that just like the information received today, any tip or lead that we receive, will be taken seriously and investigated thoroughly. We will utilize every lawful resource available to us to arrest and bring Shifflett to justice.
To those who chose to harbor, or aid and abet Shifflett, we will ensure that you face the legal consequences of your actions.

The Page County Sheriff’s Office says there will be a heavy police presence in Stanley for the time being. The area is in the vicinity of Honeyville Road and Deerfield Estates. Police say to avoid the area until further notice, if possible.
