BRIDGEWATER, VA (Rocktown Now) — Fire crews responded to a reported residential structure fire on Cindie Lane early Sunday morning in Bridgewater.
In a social media post, Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Company says the occupant called 911 around 1:30am reporting a house full of smoke, something burning on the first floor of their apartment, and smoke alarms activated. Bridgewater Police arrived reporting smoke showing from the rear of the structure. Crews extinguished the fire and began overhaul operations within 10 minutes of arrival.
The occupants were unharmed and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
Crews from Weyers Cave Volunteer Fire Company, Harrisonburg Fire Department, Rockingham County Fire Rescue, Bridgewater Volunteer Rescue Squad, Dayton Police Department, and Bridgewater Police Department assisted on scene while Cloverhill Volunteer Fire Company provided assistance for additional calls until crews were able to clear the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by Rockingham County’s Fire Marshals Office.
