STAUNTON VA: (ROCKTOWN NOW) – On Christmas Eve, a fire broke out in Staunton, destroying a family’s garage. The blaze was reported shortly after 6 p.m. on Tuesday evening. Staunton Fire units were dispatched to the scene following reports of a confirmed structure fire with visible flames.
Initial reports suggested that a house was on fire, but upon arrival, crews discovered a one-story garage engulfed in heavy flames. Firefighters from Engine 3, Engine 2, and Ladder 1 tackled the fire from the exterior, with assistance from Augusta County Fire-Rescue units E101 and BC13. The Staunton-Augusta County First Aid & Rescue Squad, Inc. was also present at the scene.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. During the incident, the Verona Volunteer Fire Company and Swoope Volunteer Fire Company provided coverage for the city’s empty stations. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
