Virginia is earmarking nearly three million dollars to help keep residents in their homes.

The state’s Department of Housing and Community Development said in a Friday release that the money is allocated for the Virginia Eviction Reduction Pilot program, and will be spread among seven eviction prevention services across the commonwealth.

The program researches ways to effectively reduce evictions and homelessness in the state by coordinating local communities with resources they need to stay afloat.

Governor Glenn Youngkin said he signed off on the funding because=, in his words, “safe, stable housing is an essential component for strong families.”
