HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Harrisonburg Public Works Department is rolling out a new program next week that will help residents get rid of their cardboard.
Director Tom Hartman explained to city council during a meeting that it is a reservation-based cardboard collection service for Fridays since they already run a cardboard collection route for select large users in the city.
“We had trucks out on the streets and we noticed that over time our solid waste employees are noting that there are a lot of in the toters,” Hartman said. “We needed to find a way to collect that.”
Cardboard collections will take place every Friday, except for holidays, and residents who receive direct trash pickup services will be eligible for the cardboard collection program.
Folks can go to the city’s website where time slots will be available for reservation.
