ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Kyger Funeral Homes) — Michael Breeden Obituary:
Michael Breeden, 66, of Elkton, passed away Friday, December 6, 2024 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. Mike was born September 18, 1958 in Harrisonburg and was the son of Edward A. Breeden and Mary Shifflett Breeden.
Mr. Breeden was preceded in death by a daughter, Emily Renee Breeden.
Mike was the co-founder/owner of E.A. Breeden Inc. He was a member of St. Stephens Church and the Good Shephard Church. He loved old Cadillacs, Corvettes and muscle cars. He loved attending his granddaughters sporting events. Mike served for District 5 Rockingham County Board of Supervisor’s for 23 years and served on various committees including Social Services Advisory Board, Blue Ridge Committee for Shenandoah Park Relations, County Budget, the Elkton Community Center and Rockingham County Fire and Rescue. Mike served on the Virginia Association of Counties Health and Human Services Steering Committee and was involved in the Greater Shenandoah Valley Brain Injury Association and March of Dimes. Mike was instrumental in the founding of East Rockingham High School; it was one of his biggest achievements. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
On January 28, 1976 he married Peggy Frazier Breeden.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by his son, Michael Colby Breeden and wife, Melanie Smith Breeden; daughter, Kelly Breeden and fiancé, Doug Hammer; granddaughters, Madison Jade Voight and fiancé, Dylan Eppard, Reagan Emily Voight and companion, Matthew Fries, Kennedy Mary Lee Voight, Irie Elizabeth Hammer; foster children, April Breeden and Crystal Williams; foster grandson, Dakota Lee Clifton; brother, Danny Breeden and wife, Korena Carroll Breeden. Numerous nephews.
A Funeral Service will be conducted 1 p.m., Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton with Pastor Laura Lockey officiating. Burial to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville.
Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, December 13, 2024 at the funeral home.
