We could be moving closer to a trial date for the man accused of killing two Bridgewater College officers nearly a year ago. According to online records, a hearing is scheduled for this morning for Alexander Wyatt Campbell of Ashland in Rockingham County Circuit Court.

At which time a judge could either set a plea date or a trial date for the 28-year-old Campbell, who is charged in the murders of Police Officer John Painter and Campus Safety Officer J-J Jefferson last February 1st.

In November, a grand jury returned six indictments against the former Bridgewater College student, including first degree murder and aggravated murder of a law enforcement officer.
