12/31/22 It’s the final push for Virginia’s Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign. Commonwealth roadways will continue to see an increased police presence through Sunday as troopers keep an eye out for drunk drivers. Virginia State Police report that since the initiative launched in 2021, alcohol-related crashes have dropped by 40-percent and fatalities have fallen 30 percent. While these numbers are encouraging, Washington Regional Alcohol Program president Kurt Erickson said that locally, the fight is far from over. Over 120 law enforcement agencies across the state have taken part in this year’s campaign.
