STAUNTON, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – The Staunton woman who admitted to striking a city employee with her vehicle and then leaving the scene has escaped jail time.
Dorothy Jo Thomas appeared in Staunton Circuit Court yesterday afternoon where a judge sentenced her to a three-year suspended sentence plus one year of supervised probation.
Thomas, 56, pleaded guilty back in August to a charge of failure to stop after she collided with a city employee who was collecting trash on East Beverley Street in October of last year. The employee was treated and released from Augusta Health.
Thomas also had her driver’s license suspended for a year.
