SHENANDOAH COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – The Shenandoah County School Board appointed Larry Vance as the interim District 5 school board member.

A retired teacher with Shenandoah County Public Schools, Vance was unanimously selected from three applicants for the empty seat representing District 5 during a special meeting last week.

The seat was vacated when former school board member Brandi Rutz announced she was stepping down at the end of September.

Vance will serve the remainder of the term, which runs through Dec. 31 of next year.
