Helen Bain Cook, 65, of Port Republic, Virginia, a wonderful lady, stepped into the Kingdom of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, November 2, 2024. Her long battle with cancer is over and she is enjoying ultimate peace, joy and life!

Helen was born October 15, 1959, in Charlottesville, Virginia, and was the daughter of the late James Kirk and Nancy Virginia Shroyer Bain.

Helen was raised in Crozet, graduated from Western Albemarle High School and later obtained a degree in early childhood education from EMU. She worked many years as a childcare provider. Helen was a member of Grace Covenant Church where she volunteered wherever she was needed. Helen was a great wife and amazing mother, as well as a great encourager to her husband, daughter, and everyone who knew her. She was full of joy and happiness and loved to laugh. We will miss her bright eyes and contagious laughter.

On September 11, 1982, she married Scott Blane Cook, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Hope Cook Wong and husband, Kai; sisters, Ginny Allen, Nana Corley, Ellie Gathright and husband, Tim, Sarah McGahee and husband, Steve; brother, Lindy Bain and wife, Kristen; sisters-in-law, Robin Painter, Julie Cook; brothers-in-law, Chip Cook, David Cook and wife, Janet, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Sam Cook.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Grace Covenant Church in Harrisonburg with Pastor Bert McTier officiating. The family will gather in the social hall following the service, where a lunch will be served. Interment will be private at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
