LURAY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Shenandoah National Park announced plans for the 2024 Veterans Day observance. The Park will continue its partnership with Project Healing Waters, a nonprofit dedicated to veterans’ healing through fly fishing.
In addition to educating participants about fly fishing techniques, the group, along with philanthropic partners, sponsors fly fishing trips for veterans in need. Volunteers with the program will return to the Park for Veterans Day – Nov. 11.
Project Healing Waters volunteers will lead programs at Dickey Ridge Visitor Center (mile 4.6) and Byrd Visitor Center (mile 51) from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Visitors can learn and practice fly-casting and fly-tying.
All are welcome to participate. Monday, November 11, 2024, is a fee-free entrance day to all National Park sites in honor of Veterans Day.
