Adelma Jane (Wilfong) Beach, 75, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Wednesday October 16, 2024 at the Sentara RMH Medical Center.
Mrs. Beach was born on February 12, 1949, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, and was the daughter of the late Arthur Herbert and Lena Frances (Smith) Wilfong. She was the 5th of 7 Wilfong sisters. She graduated from Turner Ashby High School, and later worked at several positions while raising 3 boys. She eventually retired from James Madison University after working in Residential Life for many years.
Jane enjoyed cooking, reading books, working on crossword puzzles, and following NASCAR. She and her husband John enjoyed camping in their earlier years and taking bus trips to new places in their later years. She collected refrigerator magnets from all the places her and her family visited. She rarely missed watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, but her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with family, cooking around the holidays, and going to her children’s and grandchildren’s extracurricular activities. Always their number one fan.
On June 17, 1966 she married John Wayne Beach who survives.
In addition to her husband, Jane is survived by her sons, John Wayne Beach II, Jeremy Wade Beach, and wife Diann, and Joel Wilfong Beach, all of Harrisonburg; sisters, Dottie Custer, Sue Boone and Cyndi Smith; grandchildren, Simon Beach, Nolan Beach and Oliver Beach; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Beach was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Loretta Simmers, Betty Glick and Debbie Custer.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 24th at 2:00 pm at West Side Baptist Church in Harrisonburg with Rev. Troy Pearson officiating. The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm and there will be a light reception at 3:00 pm.
